I thought it might be fun to give the classic "Tour du Mont Blanc", a go. It is one of worlds famous treks and something that has been on my list for some time.
Over 11 days we will cover around 170km, with an accumulated height gain and loss of around 10,000m.
We will start and finish in the French town of Les Houches, taking the well established anti-clockwise route. The trek will take us from one valley to the next, through French, Italian and Swiss borders. The views and scenery promise to be outstanding; making up for all the blisters!
Our itinerary:
Leaving UK for Marseille to watch All Blacks v Italy in the first pool match of the World Cup(go the Men in Black). Then catching a train from Marseille to Les Houches...

Day 2: Les Contamines - Les Chapieux
Day 3: Les Chapieux - Rifugio Elisabetta
Day 4: R.Elisabetta - Courmayeur
Day 5: Courmayeur - Rifugio Bonatti
Day 6: R.Bonatti - La Fouly

We are taking a rest day in Courmayeur!!
From Les Houches we drive to Geneva for the night and fly out to Edinburgh to see the ABs v Scotland, before ending our trip....(do we then get to relax??).
I've packed my backpack (multiple blister packs, check), googled "how to read a compass", and made sure my travel insurance covers helicopter evacuation. I'm ready to roll!!
See you in Les Houches :)
*Did you know that the first pedestrian tour around Mt Blanc was in 1767 by a Mr Benedict de Saussure and his mates.

LOL
We are always learning, don't we?
Ok, the guy's(gay's?) in Black winned against the "Lobos" team. And did not break the record. So we are proud of it. We lost... but we are proud. Funny, isn't it?
Hope you're having fun!
